Leadership Marshall County enters third month of curriculum

(Filed November 6, 2012)

Leadership Marshall County participants will be focusing on City and County Government this month, for their third month of community development, according to Leadership Marshall County Committee Member, Debbie Buchanan.

According to Buchanan, the Leadership class of 10 individuals visited the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville last month for Law Day and also spent time at the Marshall County Judicial Building and Detention facility. They also got the unique opportunity to participate in some hands on training with a firearms simulator owned by KACO which was set up and being used by our local law enforcement departments.

This is only the second go round for this program to be in Marshall County since 1997, with last year being the first year it was brought back. Leadership Marshall brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and tries to develop their potential to be future leaders in the community.  Participants are exposed to many facets of the community through planned sessions to familiarize them with resources, organizations and institutions which shape Marshall County.

In December the class will experience Healthcare Day before moving on to Communications & Media Day in January.
