Trucker airlifted from Gerdau plant in Calvert City
(File May 24, 2013) Calvert City- A truck driver who works for a motor freight company was air lifted in a helicopter from Gerdau Corp.’s Calvert City plant about noon today. Two Marshall County Ambulances and a Calvert City Fire Truck also responded to the plant which is located on Shar-Cal Road in Calvert City’s sprawling industrial complex.
According to a release from the plant’s External Communications and Public Affairs Manager the truck driver was injured in the process of loading steel onto his truck for delivery. Gerdau officials declined to identify the man, comment on his condition or release specific details of the incident.
The release from the firm said, “Out of respect to his family and friends and per company policy, the company will not release any personal information or comment on the pending investigation at this time.
