Drug charges leveled against Calvert City woman
(Filed March 20, 2013) PADUCAH- Debra J. Reed, 50, of Dr. Smith Lane, Calvert City was charged yesterday with DUI, Possession of a 1st degree controlled substance, Methamphetamine 2nd offense (a class “C” felony punishable by 5-10 years), possession of a 2nd degree controlled substance Lortab, possession of a 3rd degree controlled substance, Xanax, possession of a 3rd degree controlled substance, Diazepam, possession of Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to information released today by McCracken County Sheriff’s Department Reed was arrested during a routine traffic stop in Paducah.
Tuesday afternoon at approximately 2:14 pm detectives stopped Reed’s 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix on South 3rd Street near the intersection of Elizabeth Street. The vehicle was stopped for suspicion of DUI. Detectives determined that Reed was under the influence of controlled substances.
Deputy Derek Pugh arrived and performed field sobriety tests on Reed. Reed was arrested for DUI. During the course of the stop detectives searched Reed’s purse and seized a quantity of Methamphetamine, a Methamphetamine smoking pipe, doses of Hydrocodone, Xanax, Diazepam and a plastic baggy of Marijuana. Detectives also seized US currency believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales.
As the investigation ensued detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department secured a search warrant for Reed’s residence located in Calvert City. The search warrant was executed later in evening by the Marshall and McCracken County Sheriff detectives. According to the report police officers seized additional quantities of Methamphetamine and other items indicative of drug trafficking from the residence.
