Benton man dies after motorcycle crash in D'ville

(Filed July 26, 2013) Draffenville- A Benton man was killed last night at approximately 8:55 p.m. in Draffenville when the motorcycle he was driving struck a pickup truck broadsided. Darrell L. Miller, 50, of Benton died of injures he sustain in the crash.

According to a news release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Miller was traveling north on US Hwy. 641 in Draffenville when George A. English, 32, of Benton, turned into his path while driving a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

Miller’s motorcycle struck the passenger side of English’s pickup truck. Miller was transported to Marshall County Hospital in Benton where he died from injuries sustained in the collision. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash according to the news release from the sheriff’s department.

According to the synopsis of the accident English was traveling south on US 641 in Draffenville.  Miller was traveling north on US 641.  English stopped on US 641 and waited for an oncoming car to pass before making a left turn into the new McDonald’s restaurant entrance.  English failed to see Miller traveling north behind the vehicle and made a left turn in from of Miller.
