Burgess named as Miss AmeriBration Monday
(Filed July 2, 2013) Calvert City- Brittany Nicole Burgess, 17, of Cadiz was named Miss AmeriBration last night during the AmeriBration Beauty Pageant in the Calvert City Civic Center. The blue eyed, blonde is the daughter of Ira and Missy Burgess of Cadiz.
Abby Harris was named second runner-up and Sydney Smothers was first runner-up and most photogenic. Burgess, Harris and Smothers competed in the 14-18 year-old age group of the pageant.
The AmeriBration pageant featured competition categories in age groups that ranged from 0 to 18 years of age. The crowd came close to filling the civic center by the time the judging started. Proceeds from the pageant are used by the sponsoring organization Calvert Area Development Association to pay for expenses related to AmeriBration.
The AmeriBration beauty pageant kicks off the AmeriBration celebration in Calvert City on the Fourth of July. Activates begin at Memorial Park on Fifth Avenue in Calvert City at 10 a.m. on the Fourth. Nearly two dozen vendors are expected in the park, along with a car show, free entertainment, and a free kiddie train ride that operated from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. when the kid’s parade is sponsored in the park by CFSB.
Parade line-up at Pathway Baptist Church is at 6 p.m. the parade begins at 7 p.m. Free cold watermelon is available in Memorial Park immediately after the parade. The fireworks program start at full darkness or approximately 9 p.m.
