Heart attack apparently claimed missing woman
SALEM- (Nov. 4, 2012) According to the Kentucky State Police an elderly Livingston County woman apparently died of a massive heart attack prior to her vehicle leaving the roadway and going down a 20 foot embankment that hid her car from view. Mildred L. Croft, 88, left her residence near Lola and traveled East on Ditney Road where she failed to negotiate a curve and her car went down the embankment.
According to the release from the KSP Croft is believed to have left her home sometime after 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon. KSP was notified that she was missing yesterday and her car was found about 9 a.m. this morning.
According to information released by the Livingston County Coroner Croft had prior medical issues and it appeared that she suffered a massive heart attack prior to the collision, which caused the crash. Also according to the KSP report Croft’s death has been ruled by the coroner to be unrelated to the vehicle collision.
The Croft vehicle was located by members of the Livingston County Rescue Squad approximately 9 a.m. this morning. The bank the vehicle went down was so steep the car was not visible to passers by.
Other local agencies involved in the search and recover effort include the Livingston Sheriff's Office, Livingston County Emergency Management, Salem and Burna Volunteer Fire Departments.
