Work begins on turn lanes at MCHS
(Filed April 25, 2013) Draffenville- Utility work has started along US 68 and US 641 in the Draffenville area for Marshall County to prepare for construction of new turn lanes at the entrance to Marshall County High School.
School and other local officials have lobbied for turn lanes at the main entrances of the high school on both US Hwy 641 and Us Highway 68 for many years. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced their intention to do the work many months ago.
This is along US 641 near mile point 12.5 at High School Road and along US 68 near mile point 10.7 at High School Road. Both these locations have been problem areas and the scenes of numerous vehicular accidents. The turn lanes are an effort to make the areas safer for students and other motorists who must negotiate the entrances to the school.
At this time work is focused along US 641 and should be completed around the end of May. Work will then move to US 68 starting around the first of June and continuing for about 6 weeks.
This utility work may require lane restrictions from time to time. Motorists should be alert and use appropriate caution when they encounter a work zone in these areas.
